A slightly shorter brother to the 4' Paipo Fishtail, our Retro dipped Fishtail Paipo bellyboards are made from 9mm thick, Okoume Marine ply. Okoume is a hardwood so has a lot of strength, but retains a good amount of flex. The flex in a board enhances the bellyboarding experience as you can really feel the power of the wave beneath you, and it helps to make it more agile. Okoume also has the benefit of being very light – the board weighs only 1.6Kg.
The board is 110cm long , 39cm wide at the widest point, tapering down to 36cm at the tail. There is a slight rocker curve at the nose built into the design.
The retro finish is created using our antique woodstain - puposely left to have a 'weathered' appearance - and the board is then finished with several coats of a satin, water-based varnish to keep everything protected.
The shaping and width of the board ensures that you can transfer your weight very easily in order to make super sharp turns - exhilarating fun in larger waves! It also works really well as a simple bellyboard, catching a wave easily from no more than waist deep water. It is truly a 'one board does all'.
