Made from Paulownia wood laminates, with a bamboo core to add strength and flexibility, the Moorboards Surfie is an all-round, super fun and easy to use board.
Although Paulownia is classed as a hard wood, it is almost unbelievably light-weight - the board weighs only just over 1.3Kg. It also has far greater bouyancy than virtually any other wooden ply boards out there.
The underside of the Moorboards Surfie is concave in shape - starting from the base of the rocker curve, down to the tail. This concave helps to channel water flow and create a cavitation effect - which helps in maximising speed and bouyancy on-the-fly. The downturn towards the edges of the board presents the rail in a manner which helps with turning and holding onto the face of a wave.
The woodgrain on these boards is also a stand-out feature, being book-matched (symmetrical) and every single one is unique. The photo of the 4 boards together gives an idea of the variations in grain patterns. Without doubt, they are beautiful to look at.
The board will be finished with 2 coats of Odie's Oil. The first coat is applied using Odie's Super Penetrating oil and the second with Odie's regular oil. Odie's is an all natural hard wax oil which contains no added chemicals, hardeners or thinners.
Dimensions: 11mm thick, 118cm long, 36.5cm at widest point, tapering to 33cm at the tail.
As these boards are finished to order, please allow up to 10 days before shipping (It's usually sooner). Delivery usually takes 2 to 3 days. We will occaisionally have finished boards ready to go for immediate shipping.
* It is strongly recommended that the board is not used for 2 weeks from the date of the last coat of oil. This is to ensure that the finish has fully cured and to provide the best protection. A date will be provided with the board to show when oil was applied.

We can ship to non-UK addresses - please message us through the contact form for an up-to-date shipping quote before making a purchase. As shipping costs are currently changing regularly, we prefer to do it this way, so that you pay a fair price. (Rather than charging a large flat fee to cover ourselves)
